Ingredients
- 800 g potatoes
- 400 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 20 g butter
- 100 ml milk
- Salt and black pepper
- Grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks.
- 2. Cook the potatoes in salted boiling water for about 20 minutes until tender.
- 3. Meanwhile, finely chop the onion.
- 4. Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan.
- 5. Sauté the onion for about 3 minutes until softened.
- 6. Add the ground beef and cook until nicely browned.
- 7. Season with salt and black pepper, then stir well.
- 8. Drain the potatoes and mash them until smooth.
- 9. Add the butter and milk, then mix until creamy.
- 10. Spread the cooked beef evenly in the bottom of a baking dish.
- 11. Cover with the mashed potatoes.
- 12. Sprinkle with grated cheese if desired.
