Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 400 g tomato sauce
  • Fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • 1. Peel and finely chop the onion.
  • 2. Finely chop the garlic and parsley.
  • 3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, half of the onion, the garlic, and the parsley.
  • 4. Season with salt and black pepper, then mix thoroughly by hand.
  • 5. Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs.
  • 6. Heat the oil in a frying pan or Dutch oven.
  • 7. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5 minutes.
  • 8. Remove the meatballs and set them aside.
  • 9. In the same pan, sauté the remaining onion until softened.
  • 10. Add the tomato sauce and stir well.
  • 11. Return the meatballs to the sauce.
  • 12. Simmer gently over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 13. Stir gently from time to time.
  • 14. Adjust the seasoning before serving.

Add a few fresh basil leaves to the sauce for extra flavor.
